FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing N1,N1,N4,N4-tetramethylbutane dithioamide involves reaction of N1,N1,N4,N4-tetramethyl-2-butyne-1,4-diamine with excess elementary sulphur (S8) in the presence of a three-component catalyst consisting of cobalt acetyl-acetonate [Co(acac)2], triphenyl phosphine (Ph3P) and triethylaluminium (Et3Al), taken in molar ratio N1,N1,N4,N4-tetramethyl-2-butyne-1,4-diamine:S8:Co(acac)2:Ph3P:Et3Al=10:(35-45):(0.3-0.7):(0.6-1.4):(0.6-1.4), preferably 10:40:0.5:1.0:1.0, at temperature 125-135°C and atmospheric pressure for 5-7 hours.
EFFECT: novel method of producing N1,N1,N4,N4-tetramethylbutane dithioamide which can be used in fine organic synthesis, as well as in synthesis of biologically active substances.
