FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 3-(phenylmethylidene)-2-thiiranethione, which involves reaction of N,N-dimethyl-3-phenyl-2-propyne-1-amine with excess elementary sulphur (S8) in the presence of a three-component catalyst consisting of cobalt acetylacetonate [Co(acac)2], triphenylphosphine (Ph3P) and triethylaluminium (Et3Al), taken in molar ratio N,N-dimethyl-3-phenyl-2-propyne-1-amine:S8:Co(acac)2:Ph3P:Et3Al=10:(35-45):(0.3-0.7):(0.6-1.4):(0.6-1.4), preferably 10:40:0.5:1.0:1.0, at temperature 125-135°C and atmospheric pressure for 5-7 hours.
EFFECT: method for synthesis of a novel compound which can be used in fine organic synthesis and synthesis of biologically active substances.
