FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in order to measure temperature, part 9 of modulated flux is directed from a radiation source 8 into a light guide. Due to cladding 4 at a distance from an area L, radiation flux propagating in the light guide is scattered, wherein scattering is more intense the greater the difference between refraction indices of the core and surrounding medium. Main attenuation takes place on area L. The change in the level H of the liquid 2 due to temperature causes corresponding change in flux which is converted by a photodetector 5 into an electrical signal which is proportional to H. The obtained signal is amplified with an amplifier 6 and transmitted to a voltage-to-frequency converter 7, the output signal of which, by transmitting to a radiation source 8, modulates flux of the latter. Part 10 of the flux is directed onto the photodetector 11 of a recorder, the output signal of which is transmitted through an amplifier 12 to an analogue-to-digital converter, from the output of which information on temperature is obtained.
