FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to recovery of sulfur from sulfur-containing gases with recovery efficiency of at least 99.8%. Proposed method comprises processing of initial acid gas materials in Klaus plant to produce end gas. Total content S1 of sulfur compounds in end gas makes less than 0.8 vol. % and that of free oxygen makes 0.1-0.7 vol. %. Sulfur compounds in end gas are subjected in said Klaus plant to hydration/hydrolysis to produce has containing H2S. Said H2S is removed from produced gas.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of recovery.
