FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method relates to methods of non-metals detection, and can be used in the analysis of compound semiconductors of the AIIIBV with hexagonal crystalline grid to detect the presence of sulphur in doped gallium selenide. The method comprises the sample preparation made via melting sulphur together with sodium hydroxide with the further dissolution of the resulting alloy in the sodium hydroxide solution. The sulphur detection is carried out with 1 M solutions of formic acid and sodium hydroxide with stripping voltammetry ultraviolet exposure. During the said exposure the sulphide ions are dissolved and another hardly soluble substance is formed, mercuric sulphide (HgS).
EFFECT: simplified sulphur extraction from the analysed sample; analysis time reduction; detection accuracy improvement.
