SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining ice conditions. Summary: obtaining satellite radar images, as well as current and forecast information on ice situation, which includes main characteristics of ice cover taking into account hydrometeorological situation in region. Ice thickness is calculated using information on ship hovercraft, vessel speed in ice and in pure water from databases. Taking into account the obtained data, an optimum route of the ship is built.

EFFECT: technical result is determination of optimum route of the ship without using additional equipment.
