FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for remote object identification, where a fluorescent-retroreflective device is first placed on an information area, said device illuminating a narrow-directed light beam. Reflected fluorescence radiation, which is encoded via amplitude modulation, is picked up and the obtained information is decoded. Disclosed is a fluorescent-retroreflective device to realise the method, as well as an optical reader.
EFFECT: low labour input, wider operating range and noise immunity.
