FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: base of cutting plate with coating includes substrate and coating system on substrate, which contains layers. Titanium carbonitride layer includes grains of titanium carbonitride; the first titanium/aluminium-containing layer includes the first titanium/aluminium-containing grains; aluminium alpha-oxide layer includes grains of aluminium alpha-oxide. The above layers are applied during the chosen period of time so that the growth of the above grains can be stopped at pre-chosen size of the grain. Titanium carbonitride layer thickness is in the range between lower limit equal approximately to 0.5 micrometre and upper limit equal approximately to 25 micrometres. The first titanium/aluminium-containing layer and aluminium alpha-oxide layer has the thickness within the range between lower limit above zero micrometres and upper limit equal approximately to 5 micrometres. The first titanium/aluminium-containing coating layer and aluminium alpha-oxide coating layer form the subsequent coating. Coating system includes many sequences of the coating that is applied after application of titanium carbonitride coating layer.
EFFECT: obtaining cutting plates with improved operating properties such as wear resistance and improved resistance to abrasive wear.
