FIELD: cutting tools.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cutting tool equipped with coating for mechanical processing of metals: for turning, milling or drilling of metal material: alloyed, carbon or hard-to-work hard steel. The cutting tool contains substrate covered with multilayer wear-resistant coating including a layer of alpha-Al2O3 and a layer of titanium carbonitride TixCyN1-y with 0.85≤x≤1.3, preferably 1.1≤x≤1.3, and 0.4≤y≤0.85 deposited on the layer of alpha-Al2O3, wherein TixCyN1-y has a texture coefficient TC (hk1) that is equal to or more than 3. The cutting tool has a layer of titanium carbonitride with increased hardness and, accordingly, improved wear resistance, when used in machine-mechanical processing.
EFFECT: obtaining the cutting tool for mechanical processing of metals.
