FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of applying a zinc oxide coating onto a transparent base. Described is a chemical vapour deposition method for applying a zinc oxide coating onto a base by feeding two streams of gaseous starting materials onto the surface of the base and mixing said streams of gaseous starting materials near said surface for not less than 1 s in order to form a zinc oxide coating at a deposition rate of more than 5 nm/s. The base moves past the gas mixing zone, where the surface of the base is at atmospheric pressure and temperature which is sufficient for the onset of a reaction between the zinc-containing compound and water.
EFFECT: possibility of applying a zinc oxide film via chemical vapour deposition at atmospheric pressure at a high rate of deposition when producing float glass.
