FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce high-intensity light sources, excimer lasers, ion engines, as well as in medicine. A stream of xenon difluoride or tetrafluoride or hexafluoride or mixtures thereof is mixed with a stream of hydrogen in a flow reactor. 10-50% hydrogen stoichiometric excess is maintained. The mixture is ignited while heating at temperature 390-410°C and pressure 200-380 mmHg. The reaction is carried out, where n = 2, 4, 6. Hydrogen fluoride is separated from the end product.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain elementary xenon in large amounts which are sufficient for industrial application and having high degree of purity exceeding 99,5%.
