FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aircraft engineering, particularly to ornithopters with flapping wings. Proposed method comprises intermittent actuation of flapping wings, bringing oscillation system in resonance and retaining system in said state. In flight, resonance frequency of integral oscillation system is varied by varying rigidity of oscillation system while actuation force is applied solely at extreme points of wings amplitude. Actuation force magnitude is varied in proportion with change in system rigidity. Ornithopter comprises airframe, two wings pivoted to airframe and arranged above after another along airframe lengthwise axis. Wings are driven by piston engines. Both wings are articulate to make integral oscillation system. Said system allows varying its rigidity. Note that engine pistons act directly on said wings.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
