FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: magnetic fluid seal of non-magnetic shaft includes annular constant magnet, pole attachments adjacent to it and magnetic fluid. Annular elements - grooves, teeth, projections, concentrators having sharp edges located at the shaft surface are made on surfaces of pole attachments facing the shaft. Annular elements on pole attachment can be of various shape, but they shall have the edges which are located as close to the sealed shaft as possible. Magnetic fluid is introduced to a gap between shaft and pole attachments and forms separate magnetic-fluid rings in the area of edges of elements.
EFFECT: increasing the retained pressure drop and improving the reliability of magnetic-fluid seals of non-magnetic shafts.
