The first node comprises a first counter configured to count the number of transmitted Protocol Data Blocks (PDU) and a second counter configured to count the number of transmitted data bites. The method and the apparatus include initialisation of the first and the second counter with null, data transmission to be received by the second node, comparison of the first counter and the second counter values with the first limiting threshold value and the second limiting threshold value and state report request from the second node if any of the limiting threshold values is reached or exceeded.
