FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magneto-optical glass which contains terbium oxide, for use as devices operating on the Faraday effect. The obtained level of properties is achieved through composition of the magneto-optical glass which contains the following, mol %: Tb2O3 20-31, SiO2 5-15, B2O3 25-33, Al2O3 12-15, GeO2 15-25.
EFFECT: invention enables synthesis of glass with high Verdet constant V with low absorption at operating wavelength and low susceptibility to crystallisation, which enables to obtain magneto-optical glass using conventional optical glassmaking techniques.
