FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: projectile for a rifled weapon comprises a vessel, in which at the side of a tail part along the body axis there is a dead cavity. The cavity bottom is located in the plane stretching via a centre of gravity of the projectile or is located at the distance of not more than 0.3 L from the centre of gravity of the projectile towards the rear end, or is installed at the distance of not more than 0.1 L from the centre of gravity of the projectile towards the projectile head. The maximum diametre d of the cavity makes 0.03-0.36 D, where D is the projectile calibre, and L is the projectile length.
EFFECT: improved ballistic characteristics of a projectile.
