SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image scanning devices. Transportation section is designed to provide a possibility of transportation of the information carrier, which is the purpose of reading, in forward and reverse directions along the transportation channel. The section of optical reading is installed inside the transportation channel. The section of optical reading optically reads the carrier, which is transported by the transportation section. The section of control sets a transportation direction of an information carrier in the process of reading of the information carrier based on the position of an information carrier before or at the moment of beginning of reading of an information carrier and the position of the section of optical reading so that the distance of carrier transportation before completion of reading of a carrier shortens, and controls the section of transportation and the section of optical reading.
EFFECT: possibility to exclude excessive transportation of the paper (information carrier) during the operation of scanning preparation, thus increasing throughput of the scanning tools.
