FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: thermal imaging receiver is used to determine temperature of the body of an electrical machine between fins at the base tmax and temperature on the surface of the ends of the fins tmax. Heat flux density qs from the winding to the surface of the body at the base of its fins is then calculated.
EFFECT: easy estimation of heat flux density while maintaining reliability of measurements.
