FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: post on which a clamp is mounted is placed on an adjustment plane. A reading device is placed on a locator while providing the gauge rod a given reach in a conical hole in the locator. The locator is placed on the adjustment plane. The measurement object is placed with the spherical surface into the conical hole, wherein contact of the first measured plane with the gauge rod is provided. The clamp brought into the conical hole while simultaneously rotating the measurement object, thereby adjoining the working surface of the clamp with the second measured plane. A first reading is taken from the reading device and the clamp is removed. The measurement object is remounted on the locator. Operations associated with measurement of the location of the second measured plane are repeated. A second reading is taken from the reading device. Deviation values of the adjusted value of the distance from the measured planes to the centre of the spherical surface are determined from readings taken from the reading device, and from the half-difference thereof, nonsymmetry of the planes relative said centre is determined.
EFFECT: measurement of two parameters of relative positions of planes and the centre of a sphere.
