FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment, in particular to methods of measuring slot width and its symmetry relative to centre of external spherical surface. In the method, a part is installed on a measuring device, while aligning the centre of the outer spherical surface with the comparison plane. Main and additional plates of equal width are installed in the slot of the part. Angular position of the part is verified by means of its joint turns around each of three coordinate axes and measurements of deviations from the adjusted distance from the comparison plane to two points of the side of the main plate. Turns of the part around its longitudinal and transverse axes are provided by supply and fit of the clamp to the additional plate. During adjustment, readings of the main heads are aligned. First information parameter is recorded according to the reading of one of the main heads. Second information parameter is determined, which is taken as a deviation from the adjusted distance from the comparison plane to the narrow side surface of the additional plate, obtained using the additional head. Deviation of the slot width is determined from the difference of the first and second information parameters, and the deviation from its symmetry is determined from their half-sum.
EFFECT: increasing measurement productivity by eliminating the need to reinstall the measurement object and re-align its position in the measuring unit.
