FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: system has four magnetic shields in form of hollow cylinders having a common axis of rotation and whose end faces are closed by flat discs. The fourth shield is the housing of the atomic beam tube, the third, second and first shields lie inside the housing. Discs of the shields are separated from each other by gaps. At the centre of the discs there are through holes for passage of a sheet-like atomic beam. Holes in the discs of the third shield are slit-type and have rounded narrow side walls and there is a circular protrusion around the slit-type hole on the outer side of each disc. Dimensions of the slit-type hole, the circular protrusion as well as the width of the gap between discs of the first and second shields and the width of the gap between discs of the second and third shields are determined by given conditions.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the magnetic shield system of an atomic beam tube with optical selection of atomic states with shielding factor not less than 106.
