FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used for defining conditions of welding in reconditioning shaft-type parts. Screen is welded onto cylindrical specimen by roller electrode along screw line in solid phase with wire plastic deformation to complete elimination of gaps. Relative lengthwise plastic deformation of screen is measured. Length of piece side is defined as product of part rotation peripheral speed into duration of single welding cycle. Width of piece site is defined as welding pitch along screw line. Height of piece area corresponding to metal coating thickness is defined by preset formula proceeding from the condition of solid coating formation specimen surface depending on metal screen relative lengthwise plastic deformation, weight and density.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of determination.
