FIELD: manufacture of medicinals, heat-resistant polymers, and insecticides. SUBSTANCE: adamantane chloroderivatives are initial compounds for synthesis of adamantane derivatives. Adamantane is chlorinated using carbon tetrachloride and catalyst such as cobalt compounds of formula: COX wherein X is chloride, bromide, iodide, acetate, acetyl acetonate, metavanadate, tungstate, octanoate, stearate and palmitate at 100-200 C for 3-5 hours as AdH; COX: CCl4 molar ratios of 1:0.005-0.01:1.5-5. Conversion of adamantane is 100%. In this case, amount of catalyst consumption is reduced, procedure of recovery of catalyst from reaction products is simplified, and amount of waste products is reduced.
