FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to organic chemistry, namely: a method for producing 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexabenzyl-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazatetracyclo- [5,5,0,0^3,11,0^5,9]dodecane (HB) which is an intermediate product of synthesis of hexanitrohexaazaisovurcitane - a promising powerful explosive. It is produced by reaction of benzylamine and glyoxal in the aqueous acetonitrile environment with adding the catalytic amount of formic acid in the mole ratio 1:4. The filtrate produced by each synthesis is used as a solvent in the following synthesis of HB the amount of which reaches ten. Humidity of aqueous acetonitrile before the introduction into the following synthesis is maintained within the range of 16-20% by adding pure acetonitrile or a dehydrating agent.

EFFECT: acetonitrile consumption per 1000 g of the product decreases to 85%.
