DEVICE TO COOL GAS FLOW AND METHOD TO RECEIVE HEAT-ABSORBING MATERIAL Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC F23R5/00

Abstract RU 2464498 C2

FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: device to cool a gas flow, for instance, nitrogen, produced by a solid fuel generator, comprises a body with inlet and outlet perforated bottoms along the direction of gas flow movement, and the cavity between them is filled with a cooler. The cavity is divided into three sections, and the cooler includes a heat-absorbing material from borides of cobalt, chrome, molybdenum, iron, nickel or aluminium in the form of a fill from spherical granules and a material with higher heat conductivity compared to cobalt boride, for instance, cast iron shot or steel balls, arranged in the volume of the latter along with direction of section movement. When the heat-absorbing material is produced, a charge is prepared from powders of amorphous boron and cobalt, and its high-temperature synthesis is carried out in vacuum at the pressure of not more than 6.5 Pa. The synthesized product is ground, and spherical granules are produced from it. High-temperature synthesis is carried out in two stages: at the first stage at the temperature of 850-900°C and at the second stage - at 1450-1470°C with a delay at each stage under specified temperatures within at least 1.5 hours. Heating at each stage is carried out with the speed of 5-8°C/min. After the second stage the synthesized product is cooled down to 1000°C with the speed of not more than 5°C/min and further to room temperature - with a furnace.

EFFECT: inventions make it possible to reduce volume occupied by a cooler in a gas flow cooling device, and also to avoid self-initiation of interaction reaction between components during cobalt boride synthesis.
