METHOD FOR TRACHEAL BIFURCATION STENTING Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B17/24

Abstract RU 2465850 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely tracheal surgery, and can find application in restoration of adequate ventilation, including tracheal and bronchi stenting. The method consists in bifurcation stenting by two nitinol self-expanding stent with polymer coating. One stent is inserted with its distal edge into one of the bronchi in the distal direction from the tumour involvement, and with its proximal edge - into a tracheal lumen in the proximal direction from the tumour involvement. A round hole of the diameter of 7 to 10 mm is created in the stent in a projection of an opening of the second (covered) bronchus by evaporation of a nitinol frame with the use of a high-energy Nd:YG laser provided with a quartz light guide delivered through an instrumental channel of a video endoscope. A delivery device is inserted through the formed hole under control of a video bronchoscope into the lumen of the second bronchus, and the second stent in the second bronchus with its distal edge below a distal end of the tumour. A proximal edge of the second expanding stent is fixed with its flange to an edge of the formed hole.

EFFECT: use of the given invention provides maintaining adequate ventilation, ventilation of the distal bronchi of both lungs, preventing increase of airways narrowing and threatening asphyxia, recovering and maintaining drainage function of the bronchi of both lungs.
