FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building. Steering mechanism comprises encased screw running in bearings and ball but engaged with said screw. Ball nut is engaged with pitman arm shaft drive means. Ball nut and screw are furnished with half-round threaded grooves making helical channel. The latter is filled with high-precision balls. Besides screw is furnished with lock nut rigidly coupled with ball nut. Lock nut inner cylindrical surface engaging with screw outer surface has screw ledge shaped to screw surface threaded groove shape. Clearance of 0.2 to 0.3 mm is made between lock nut ledge and screw surface groove, over entire length of said ledge.
EFFECT: higher reliability.
