FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of lightning protection of industrial buildings, structures and adjacent territories. In the proposed method lightning protection is carried out with the help of an active lighting conductor, equipped with a lightning receiver, communicated with a grounding system via a pulse voltage generator and an external discharge circuit. The pulse voltage generator is made as capable of continuous operation in a duty mode and automatic reaction at changes of intensity in external atmospheric electric field. For this purpose the generator is equipped with at least two charging resistor chains and a multi-sectional discharger. Upon achievement of a critical lightning-hazardous level in an atmospheric electric field. the intensity of the electric field in the lightning conductor generator under effect of electric field energy is automatically brought to a threshold level, sufficient for realisation of pulse discharges, and when forming a leader phase of lightning development in atmosphere, moving towards a protected object, a discharge is automatically carried out from the lightning conductor tip into atmosphere of an opposite lightning leader.

EFFECT: invention provides for constant active lightning protection without make-up of energy from an anthropogenic source, higher reliability of lightning protection and increased radius of spatial lightning protection of objects and territories.
