FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spark erosion machining (SEM) of complex-contoured high-precision articles with wire electrode at programmable NC SEM machines. Proposed method comprises exploiting the energy of elastic ultrasound vibrations (EUV) to be applied onto machine top guide tool support in feeding electrode into machining zone from bottom to top, or in bottom guide of said support in feeding electrode from top to bottom toward article machined side surface perpendicular to electrode path with amplitude of EUV Aeuv, mm: Aeuv=b·tg(α), where b is article thickness, mm; α is expected slope of article machined side surface, deg., EUV frequency Feuv, kHz equal to that of the machine pulse generator pulses Fpg, lHz, EUV pulse repetition rate τeuv, mcs, equal to pulse generator repetition rate τrr, mcs.
EFFECT: strictly vertical side surfaces.
