FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and may be used for grinding conical surfaces, for example, taper bearing races. Grinding is performed by abrasive wheel with intermittent different-length cutting sections. Said wheel is brought in contact with workpiece so that larger diameter of the latter is located at longer cutting section and relation between cutting section length and article ground section is constant. Quantity of cutting sections is selected subject to saturation temperature and number of waves on surfaces interacting with cutting sections. Invention includes calculation formula for determination of the number of cutting sections depending on abrasive wheel OD, cutting section maximum length and relationship between recess between cutting sections and cutting section maximum length.
EFFECT: higher precision.
