FIELD: machining of metals, deep peripheral finishing grinding of materials predisposed to defect formation with adjustment of thermal flow directed on to part. SUBSTANCE: composite abrasive wheel containing central disc with peripheral axially-displaced abrasive layer for rough grinding and working elements with peripheral abrasive layer for finish grinding is utilized to carry out this method. Working elements are ring-shaped with section varying in width have springy L-shaped ends and are mounted for radial translation by means of elastic containers. Such design of wheel makes it possible to transfer from rough to finish modes of machining on the run which enhances productivity of machining. Presence of oscillation in middle part of cutting zone diminishes heat-release rate of grinding and improves grinding quality. EFFECT: enhanced productivity, diminished heat- release rate and improved quality of grinding. 3 cl, 6 dwg
