FIED: non-destructive testing by ultrasonic method.

SUBSTANCE: array of acoustic transducers is installed and move them along the surface of the product, the product is probed with ultrasonic waves in the area of possible defects, ultrasonic waves and process signals are received to detect defects, the coordinates of defects are determined in accordance with the coordinates of the path travelled, the acoustic contact is controlled, at the same time, a sample is made similar to the test object, in which a defect is made in the area of geometrical inhomogeneity – an artificial reflector, the orientation and location of the artificial reflector must match the most probable orientation and location of defects found in the test object, then the acoustic unit is installed on the surface of the sample and moved until the amplitude of the reflected signal from the inhomogeneity of the geometric shape becomes minimal, and the amplitude of the signal from the artificial reflector is maximum, whereas the amplitude of the signal reflected from the artificial inhomogeneity becomes less than the amplitude of the signal reflected from the defect so that as to confidently separate the signal from the defect from the signal from the geometric inhomogeneity, the position of the acoustic unit on the scanning surface of the sample is memorized, and then the acoustic unit is installed on the surface of the test object in the same position and ultrasonic testing is carried out.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of increasing the reliability of ultrasonic testing.
