FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves heating of coke samples at different temperatures; at that, dependence of degree of loss of coke "y" on activation time is pre-determined by means of experiments and dependence of adsorption coke activity as to iodine "Syi" on degree of loss of coke "y" is determined; then, ratio of product of adsorption coke activity as to iodine "Syi" per quantity of the rest coke after loss "(1-y)" is built, which characterises specific coke surface "S"; depending on coke loss degree, and then as per specified activation temperature of specific coke surface "S" according to the corresponding ratio there determined is coke loss degree; after that, activation time is chosen as per coke loss degree using the corresponding dependence.

EFFECT: invention allows obtaining activated oil coke with pre-specified properties and selecting optimum conditions of its activation.
