FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: engine includes at least one turbosupercharger loaded with flow of exit gases (EG) and provided with turbine operating on exit gases and boost air compressor, which are located on common shaft. Engine includes outlet header directing the flow of exit gases from outlet valves of the engine to turbosupercharger and exit gas flow throttling device located between outlet valves and turbosupercharger, as well as at least one bypass line for passage of exit gas flow bypassing its throttling device. Exit gas flow is directed at least via one bypass line to turbine wheel and throttled, and thus, pressure rises in exit gases upstream of the throttling device. Then, back pressure of exit gases and pressure of boost air is measured. Based on measurement of back pressure of exit gases and pressure of boost air, optimum position of throttling device is determined to reach the specified braking power. Then, control of back pressure of exit gases and pressure of boost air is performed due to adjustment of throttling device in compliance with determination of its optimum position. Version of engine braking method and engine braking device is described.
