FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: laser beam is directed along the Z axis vertically upwards from a submerged position through a certain water column and a water surface, the tilt angle of which is measured at the exit point of the beam, wherein a transparent diffusion plate is used to display in form of marks the laser beam deflected by the water surface and the deflected laser beam which is reflected from a mirror lying in parallel to the transparent diffusion plate at a distance H2; a digital video camera with bitmap viewing is used to measure the value of deviations of said marks from the zero mark, after which, based on the simultaneously measured deviations ΔX1, ΔX2, ΔY1, ΔY2, values of corresponding instantaneous tilt angles of the water surface at a selected point and the wave height h of the surface at the same point are synchronously restored (calculated).
EFFECT: method for synchronous measurement of height and tilt angles of waves of water surface at one point, having sufficient high speed, reliability and easy implementation.
