FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining one or more characteristics of the glycosylation pattern of a glycoprotein of interest which is not located on a cell surface and is produced by a cell involves determining difference in the glycosylation pattern at different sets of conditions. The method involves comparison of glycosylation characteristics on the cell surface. One or more characteristics of the glycosylation pattern for the glycoprotein of interest, which is not located on the cell surface and is produced by a cell, are determined based on the determined difference.

EFFECT: use of the disclosed method enables accurate determination of one or more differences in glycosylation characteristics of glycoprotein not on the cell surface and also establish that the differences between the first glycan of the cell surface and the second glycan of the cell surface correlate with one or more differences in the glycosylation pattern of glycoprotein not located on the cell surface.
