FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: target for producing a 99Mo isotope contains fissile material and has the shape of an open cylinder. The target is made from a sheet with thickness of not more than 1 mm. The fissile material used in the target is uranium metal rich in the 235U isotope by not less than 20%. The target material contains nickel, thereby forming a composition in which the mass of uranium is 1.0-30.0% of the mass of nickel.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the processes of making the target, extraction thereof and separating the obtained 99Mo.
