FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: at the selected time interval there measured is the following: average for selected time interval, total volume of information and communication system capacity; then communication system cybernetic capacity is calculated and measured; buffers' capacity of memory devices and communication channel capacity; then total communication system cybernetic capacity is calculated and on the base of obtained results there defined is the efficiency coefficient of communication system information transfer as ratio of above capacities multiplied by 100%. Method allows defining the degree of communication system proximity to its ultimate capabilities in transmitting the information expressed in percent and performing comparative estimation of communication system information efficiency with different topologies at various values of their information load. Invention can be used for creation of new and improvement of the existing communication channels, switching centres, automatic control systems, local computer networks, communication networks with messages switching, communication networks with packets switching.

EFFECT: obtaining universal parameter for evaluation of communication system information efficiency.
