FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: strain sensors are installed symmetrically in pairs onto a rail. By signals from strain sensors symmetrical and asymmetrical deformations of a rail journal are identified. When symmetrical deformations exceed the selection threshold established as 3-4 times higher than the level of internal noise of measurement equipment, a number of a wheelset is set as equal to one. In the measurement section with length of at least two lengths of circumference of a rolling circle of a new wheel the speed of train motion is identified to detect a frequency band, where frequency filtration of symmetrical deformations is carried out. Every time the selection threshold is again exceeded by filtered symmetrical deformations, another wheelset is registered. Then frequency filtration of asymmetrical deformation is done in a frequency band determined by frequency of free oscillations of a rail. Maximums of asymmetric deformations are registered on each pair of strain sensors. If maximums at adjacent pairs of strain sensors match, they are compared with the threshold of registration of the defect determined by the maximum depth of the permitted defect, diameter of the wheel and speed of the train. If this threshold is exceeded, the registered wheelset is rejected.
EFFECT: improved validity of defects detection.
