FIELD: testing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of technical diagnostics and non-destructive testing, and can be used for monitoring the condition of wheelsets of cars in the course of motion of a railway rolling stock. In the method, strain gauges are installed on the rail on the measuring section of the track; the threshold value of the wheel force on the rail is set; strain signals are recorded during movement; the speed of the train is determined; the value of the force from the wheel on the rail is determined; the system is connected to the Internet for communication with the database, equipped with a universal digital radio channel for sending messages to the automatic locomotive signalling system, and positioned after the sections where the train performs the "acceleration-braking" manoeuvre; the wheelset wherefor the value of the force from the wheel on the rail exceeds the threshold value on any strain gauge pair is identified as a defective wheelset; the threshold value T of the relative number of passes is set for each wheelset with a defect detected; the information about the serial numbers of the wheelsets, the numbers of cars whereon the defective wheelsets are installed, and the value of the force from the wheels on the rail is transmitted to the database; for each wheel, the number of database entries for the passes where a defect was detected and the total number of entries are calculated, the ratio thereof is calculated as a percentage, and if said ratio exceeds the threshold value, the wheelset is rejected, and the speed limit is set for the rolling stock.

EFFECT: reduced dynamic effect of wheel defects on the rail.
