SUBSTANCE: nominal angle of contact in radial thrust ball bearing corresponds to ratio between radial and axial components of outer load and equals β0=arctg((m·Pr)1/3/Ро1/3). Difference between diameters of races of opposed rings varies with race profiles and solids of revolution: where ΔD is difference between diameters of races of opposed rings; Po and Pr are axial and radial forces; β0 is nominal angle of contact; ds is diameter of balls; rg0 is mean radius of race profile of opposed rings; m is factor dependent on quantity of balls in bearing (at z=8 m=2.82, at z=20 m=3.59, at z=46 m=3.99, and at z→∞ m=4.32).
EFFECT: optimised contact geometry, reduced load at balls, longer life.
