FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: distance measuring method consists in the fact that the time required for the signal to pass the specified section is measured. Sensors of receivers containing high-accuracy clock with the time determination error accumulated during the measurement period are located at the required distance from each other. Signal of the specified shape is supplied along and from outside the section interconnecting the sensors and the recording time of that signal is determined as per the specified algorithm with each of the receivers. The distance is determined based on the formula l=c(t2-t1+τ), where l is the distance to be determined, t1 and t2 is the time of the signal recording with the first and the second receivers respectively, and τ is allowance. The distance determining device includes a signal source of the specified shape, receivers with sensors of that signal, with high-accuracy clock, emitter installation devices and sensors of receivers on one straight line in the signal propagation environment, as well as a control unit.

EFFECT: direct high-accuracy measurement and determination of distances, improvement of measurement accuracy of large distances, enhancement and simplification of the measurement procedure.
