FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises low-pressure cooling of rolls. Optimised protection of rolls against thermomechanical fatigue and wear in the wide range of rolling sizes and conditions is ensured by subjecting rolls to low- and high-pressure cooling at a time. Note here that said rolls are directly sprayed with high-pressure cooling fluid in high-pressure cooling. Note also that, in low-pressure cooling, cooling fluid is fed from moving segments of cooling shell, said segments being articulated and arranged opposite partial area of the roll. Device for cooling incorporates appropriate hardware to this end.
EFFECT: optimised cooling.
