FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in investigating nonrecurrent fast physical processes using a high-speed photochronographic recorder with mirror scanning. In the method, optical radiation from a modulated optical radiation source is input into the optical system of a high-speed photochronographic recorder through an output lens using an optical element with a mirror reflecting surface which is placed against the surface of the output lens. The distance from the radiation source to the optical element with a mirror reflecting surface is selected equal to the distance from the intermediate image of the analysed object to the output lens. The image of the modulated optical radiation source is focused on the surface of a photodetector by moving the radiation source along an optical axis which is directed towards the optical element with a mirror reflecting surface.
EFFECT: reduced volume of recorded information from the analysed object when applying optical time stamps on the photodetector and also enabling use of a standard slit assembly in the high-speed photochronographic recorder.
