SUBSTANCE: method is realised by partial animation of the facial image of the sender by superimposing a two-dimensional facial image onto the protruding area of a three-dimensional mesh, and a hair image onto the flat area of the mesh. To this end, the communication system has a sending device, a receiving device and a network which connects the sending device and the receiving device. The receiving device has memory which stores a plurality of head images associated with different sending devices, a receiver means for receiving text messages, a means of converting text symbols of the message an audio message, and an animating means for generating an animated partial three-dimensional image of a head of the sender. The animating means animates at least one facial feature of the head, the animation corresponding the movements made by the head when reading the message. A display displays the animated partial three-dimensional head and an acoustic system outputs the audio message in synchronisation with the displayed head.

EFFECT: reduced volume of image processing performed by the device of the recipient.
