FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to multiplexed communication networks, e.g. Local Interconnected Networks (LIN) or Controller Area Networks (CAN), particularly used in certain motor vehicles. The device (D) is designed to control activation of a unit (OEi) which is part of a multiplexed communication network (R), controlled by a control unit (OM). That device (D) is responsible for determining the current value of the local counter each time that unit (OEi) intends to request network activation in the network (R), and if that current value is greater than or equal to a selected threshold, preventing the unit (OEi) from making the request, while if that current value is less than said selected threshold, allowing that unit (OEi) to make its request and increase the current value of the counter by one.
EFFECT: reducing overconsumption of electrical power in a network due to battery discharge.
