FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: combined imaging via positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance (MR) tomography is performed to form hybrid or enhanced images which combine advantages of both techniques. Such a combined configuration of the techniques can employ a contrast substance (80) which includes both a PET label (82) and a magnetic resonance contrast enhancing agent (86). The contrast substance (80) also includes a targeting system (84) which enables the contrast substance (80) to accumulate in the region of interest.
EFFECT: high quality of diagnostic imaging.
