FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Steel casting is carried out at continuous casting machine including mould, two top magnetic poles and two bottom magnetic poles located in opposition at mould outer sides. Steel is cast via submerged nozzle with steel discharge between the position of top magnetic pole magnetic field peak and that of bottom magnetic poles. Permanent magnetic fields applied to two top and bottom magnetic poles decelerate fused steel flow. Fused steel is mixed by variable magnetic field simultaneously applied to two top magnetic poles. Variable magnetic field intensity at top magnetic poles and that of permanent magnetic fields at top and bottom magnetic poles are controlled subject to cast slab width.
EFFECT: high-quality slab without gas and flux inclusions.
