FIELD: foundry engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous casting. The method for controlling a continuous casting machine includes assessing the state of the flow of molten steel and calculating the flow rate of steel, taking into account impurities, through an integrated system in real time and managing operating conditions. The flow is evaluated by the temperature of the steel and the operating conditions of the continuous casting machine: casting width, speed, magnetic flux density of the mixing field and the depth of immersion of the nozzle. The steel flow indicator includes: the area of the region in which the flow velocity is less than or equal to the set value in the flow created by the electromagnetic field, and the maximum values of the surface flow velocity and turbulence energy of the steel surface. At the stage of operating conditions control, all flow indicators are determined in the corresponding specified ranges, the optimal value of the change in operating conditions is calculated when at least one of the flow indicators is found outside the specified range and the operating conditions are controlled in the subsequent control cycle based on the calculated optimal value.
EFFECT: quality of castings is improved.
