SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment and can be used for surgical treatment of patients with arterial aneurisma of brain vessels, arteriovenous malformations, brain and spinal cord tumours. Neurosurgical scalpel includes metal holder from corrosion-resistant metal with anti-reflective coating and diamond blade in form of plate with cutting edge. Width of cutting edge in transverse direction does not exceed 60 nm. Holder is curved and has parallel working part and flat handle. Handle and blade are located in one plane. Axes of working part and holder handle are located at distance from 20 to 40 mm. Blade is made from non-transparent or semitransparent diamond. Movable protective casing for blade, which has possibility of fixation in working and non-working positions, is placed on working part of handle.

EFFECT: application of scalpel makes it possible to reduce time of surgical operation, improve quality of treatment of neurosurgical patients, 1,5-3 times reduce the time of their staying in hospital and considerably improve postoperative results of patients.
